Home Care vs In-Home Care vs Home Health Care

When you are looking for quality care services online you will encounter a multitude of different terms that seem to be used interchangeably (or are they?).  Truthfully, even the Maryland Department of Mental Hygiene has a few inconsistencies in how it uses these terms.

We would like to provide clear definitions for you.

All of these terms refer to care provided to seniors in their own homes, however there are a few major differences.  Knowing these differences will help you determine which will be right for your loved one.  Most basically:

  • Home health care provides medical senior care, including diagnosis, treatment and medical advice.
  • In-home care, or home care, provides comprehensive non-medical senior care to help elderly people with essential day-to-day activities.

As a locally owned residential service agency, Family Choice Healthcare provides in-home care (same as home care) to seniors in Rockville, MD.  To learn more about each type of care, including specific services, paying for each and length/frequency of care, check out our blogs on In-Home Care vs Home Health Care, or give us a call to schedule your free phone consultation at 888.358.1341.

How to Pay for Home Care in Maryland

We understand the financial responsibility and possible burden paying for home care can cause on a family. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it harder for home care agencies like ours to find talented workers in the Montgomery County area.  Family Choice Healthcare, however, has remained committed to providing affordable care options and payment options.
