Since 1996, Family Choice Healthcare has provided quality, non-medical in-home care to seniors in the Baltimore area, as well as Northern Virginia, Washington DC and surrounding Maryland counties.

We are a family-owned and operated home healthcare agency dedicated to creating true bonds and trust between our staff and our elderly clients.  Our team of highly trained professionals take pride in the high quality compassionate care they provide to seniors, allowing them to live safely, happily and comfortably at home for as long as possible.

Benefits of In-Home Care

Studies have shown time and again that aging seniors who receive compassionate in-home care are far more likely to stay at home longer than those who do not.  Whether your senior loved one requires an increasing amount of assistance with daily tasks (bathing, eating, grooming, mobility), is living with a disability or chronic condition (Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, Parkinson’s, etc) or has been recently released from the hospital due to illness or injury, non-medical in-home care plays a critical role in their health, happiness and quality of life.

A few of the major benefits to in-home care include:

  • Ability to Remain at Home.  Most seniors prefer to live in their own homes for as long as possible, rather than transferring to an assisted living facility or nursing home.
  • Personalized Flexible Care.  The level of personalized care that your loved one will receive with a personal care attendant is far greater with home care.  This style of care is also far more flexible, allowing clients to receive care as little or as often as they need.
  • Lower Cost.  All in all, in-home care is generally the lower cost option when compared with either assisted living or nursing homes.
  • Quality of Life.  The many physical and mental health changes that can occur with age aren’t always easy on a person.  Living at home can provide a sense of normalcy and comfort which will greatly increase the quality of life for your senior loved ones.

Why Family Choice Healthcare?

At Family Choice Healthcare, our approach is to establish deep and genuine relationships between our Personal Care Attendants and their senior clients and families.  We understand that so much of the care we provide is incredibly personal and that establishing trust is one of the keys to our consistent client satisfaction.  We even provide the flexibility for clients to choose their own Attendants, or else we work to choose an Attendant who is uniquely qualified to assist you and your loved one.

Another major reason why people choose Family Choice Healthcare is that we specialize in difficult situations, including strong personalities, hard cases and even difficult to reach locations.  For just one example, read more about “Joan” in this client profile.

Home Care vs In-Home Care vs Home Health Care

While these terms all describe health services provided to seniors in their homes, there are a few main differences.  The biggest difference is in the types of home healthcare services that each provides:

  • Home health care provides medical senior care, including diagnosis or treatment as well as medical advice.
  • In-home care, or home care, provides comprehensive non-medical senior care to help elderly people with essential day-to-day activities in the comfort of their home.

To learn more about the differences, including specific services, costs and paying for each type and the length/frequency of care, check out our blogs on In-Home Care vs Home Health Care, or give us a call to schedule your free phone consultation
